Holden told Olivia it was only a matter of time before Hell came for them. After all, one doesn’t just walk away from the life he lived unscathed, but the longer Hell waited, the more Olivia let down her guard. She believed maybe happily ever after was possible—he knew it wasn’t.
But when Baker shows up beaten and bloody on their doorstep with a message, all hope evaporates. The jinn make Holden an offer he can’t refuse convince Olivia to free them all and the jinn will fight Hell alongside them. However, if their past has proved anything, it’s that the jinn cannot be trusted. When Olivia starts hearing a voice that no one can identify and Baker isn’t acting like himself, he is forced to make a decision.
With Heaven staying hands off, Holden considers accepting the jinn’s offer behind Olivia’s back. One thing is clear, with their lives and the lives all those they hold dear at stake, something has to be done. If it were as easy as Holden going back to the jinn, he would do it in a heartbeat, but Hell wants more than his soul this time—they want Olivia’s too.

I will finish this review when I'm actually done with the book. I've read the whole series up to this book. I enjoyed it. The plot and different characters were very original. The previous books were well written and EDITED! This book at 20% is utterly ridiculous with errors. It's very distracting when you basically have to ad-lib every other sentence. It's driving me insane. If I did not have an issue with HAVING to finish a book once I start, I would've stopped reading at around 15%! I dislike leaving negative reviews. But, I paid like $4-$5 for this book, and so far it's definitely not worth it. At all! Like I said before I enjoyed the first books immensely or I wouldn't have purchased this one. Please don't let this turn you off from the original series.. that was fantastic. I think this book is a rough draft that totally skipped the beta readers and editors.. it's a shame because I won't buy any of the other books in this series, and I'm going to be even more disappointed. After finishing the whole book, I can honestly say that the lack of editing, errors, etc continues throughout the entire thing. Pivotal moments? Errors. I was, and still am extremely disappointed, and very aggravated by it. I just happened to be browsing through my library, and saw this book. I remembered how much I loved the original series, and due to the fact I read one to two books a day, I couldn't recall right away why I didn't have the rest of the books. So, I read the last chapter, and I remembered the reason before I came to the end, and it showed my review. Until I see a review that says the rest are EDITED, at least past the rough draft... I will not waste my money! As much as I love the storyline, plot, characters, just everything about the original trilogy, and the plot of this spin off of main characters... I cannot do it. You have to understand, due to a chronic eventual terminal illness reading is all I am able to do! When I am able to stumble across a totally original plotline in this genre it is extremely rare. There is nothing similar, and I am dying to find out what happens. I can't justify spending the money or my time on further books if they aren't going to be readable. This author did such a superb job with the first three I don't understand what happened. I almost feel like I got sucked in. Like she has loyal customers now with great reviews so maybe the quality doesn't matter anymore? I hate even thinking, saying, and kind of accusing that theory! I'm not like that. I'd just like to understand why anyone would want to put their great reputations on the line with a book that has more mistakes than a 6th- 7th grader would have?? I'm very sorry for this review. I so wish that I didn't even leave one now. Negativity is not my thing.Product details

Ember The Jinn Trilogy Book 1 eBook Liz Schulte Reviews
I have read all the other books in this series and loved the story all around. This book is the continuation of the previous stories but also the beginning of a new chapter in the character's lives which I would say it's sort of a transition story. This book as good as it was, left me a little sad because of the events in it but I still will be buying the next one to see how these events affect the future of the characters. There was new character development which kept things fresh and hope to see more good fights between the main characters as they are always fun.
I really enjoyed this book, I like the characters and the premise. I gave the book 4 stars because it was tough to get used to the shifts in viewpoint and I felt like this book really was just a set up for book 2, there is a lot of stuff that needs to be explained about how their world works and the story really ramps up at the very end. There are references to a backstory with people and events that you have no idea about so you have to go on faith that it will be explained later. If you do read this book, don't let the dialogue from the character Baker throw you in the beginning, it sounds like an old detective novel, but give it a chance and you'll understand why as you learn more about him. All in all I would recommend this book if there is a book 2, I can't seem to find it on .
If you have not read the guardian trilogy (Secrets, Choices, Consequences) i would strongly suggest doing so before reading Ember. You might also want to read the Coven trilogy although it is not as essential. Characters from the Guardian and the Coven trilogies are back and references to past events are frequent.
Holden and Olivia are in love and trying to live as peacefully as they can. However, Olivia has always been Hell's target and peace never last long. They are soon caught in a deadly game. As the plot is getting more involved. Olivia and Holden are still the center but events are now affecting more than their lives and other characters, especially Baker, start to take a bigger role.
I really like the way Holden and Olivia's relationship is shaping up. The Guardian trilogy was all about finding love and learning to trust. This time around, the couple is more settled. Love is the cornerstone of their being and they have learned to deal with each other. They seem to be in the learning-to-live-together stage, which i found lovely.
I am eagerly awaiting books 2 and 3....
The Guardian and Jinn Trilogy series are so interwoven I'm posting the same review for them all. It didn't help that I read them back to back in less than a week. They were that good. I HAD to know what happened next.
I hate to post yet another fan girl review. BUT I so love Liz Schulte's writing style. She is my favourite type of romance author. Her characters are so well developed. There are moments you like them, dislike them, worry about them, wonder if they're just S.O.S. or in another words people you actually know.
I loved how in each book when there was a scene that took place in another book that was occurring at the same time (The Easy Bake Coven series) she remembers to include it. That helps believe that all the characters actually do know one another. I hate when an author does a spin off series but the series it spins off from is never mentioned.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Olivia and Holden's relationship play out. I'd have never thought the story line could go through 6 books without being flat and predictable but it did. I was sorry to see it come to an end but also felt like a good writer she new it was time.
I am hoping to see Corbin, Sy and Maggie in a series too, and oh yes I'm looking for Paolo. Just in case Ms.Schulte was looking for suggestions.
I'm kind of worried that I'm down to my last book published at this point, Sweet Little Lies. I don't want to seem bossy or anything but now that she's turned me into an addict I think it's only fair that she feed my habit.
